The Studentenwerke Potsdam and Frankfurt (Oder) have published joint election test stones in view of the upcoming state elections on September 22. The regional offices of the parties were asked to respond by the beginning of August. The parties contacted were the SPD, CDU, Alliance 90/The Greens, The Left, FDP, BSW, AfD and the Free Voters. Responses were received from Alliance 90/The Greens, The Left, FDP and SPD. With a total of 10 questions, the Brandenburg Student Services wanted to know from the parties how they intend to promote a sustainable social infrastructure on campus in the future. In addition to student housing, the areas of student financing, university catering, international affairs and social counseling services were also examined. Dorit Wehling, Managing Director of the Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder), noted with satisfaction the statements made by the four parties: “It is good that there appears to be a consensus that a functioning and socially acceptable infrastructure at universities is fundamental for the attractiveness of universities and for greater educational equality. What is important here is the unanimous commitment that, after more than ten years of stagnation, the state subsidies for student services urgently need to be adjusted and made more dynamic and that a separate state building program for the creation of student accommodation is required. We will measure the parties against these statements after September 22”
