Student Services Fee

The Studierendenwerk fee is a solidarity contribution. It is part of the semester fee and amounts to €100 per semester for students within the jurisdiction of the Studierendenwerk Ost:Brandenburg. The fee is collected by the respective college (as part of the total semester fee) and must be paid to the college before enrollment.

The Student Services Association fee is used by the Student Services Association Ost:Brandenburg to fund its statutory responsibilities. It is relatively low because the community of all students collectively funds the provision of these services—regardless of whether, or to what extent, individual students actually use them. The focus is on social principles and solidarity, not on merit-based fairness in individual cases!

Exemptions from contributions are handled very restrictively in this solidarity model so that they do not lead to a reduction in the solidarity community and the amount of the student contribution can be kept stable. Reasons for exemption can be:

• illness,
• study abroad,
• internship abroad,
• federal volunteer service or
• de-registration (up to the 6th week of the current semester).

There is no legal claim. There is no monthly exemption option.
